QUALITY LEADERSHIP UNIVERSITY
Undergraduate and Graduate Student Orientation
Orientation for undergraduate and graduate students in which they get to know each other, have ice-breaking and team-building activities, and in which the rights and responsibilities for the university, as well as the student code of conduct are explained. Furthermore, other details such as academic calendar, course schedule, and other questions they may have are answered. Many orientations are held each year, one per program per group.
Welcome Cookouts for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs
At the beginning of the Spring and Fall semester, the university sponsors a welcome cookout within the university in which students can mingle and get to know each other, grab a bite to eat, and get acquainted with the different student organizations on campus.
On Tuesday, March 27, Quality Leadership University held an undergraduate involvement fair, in which all of the undergraduate students were invited to attend. Students were able to visit different stands where student organizations were giving out information, as well as companies and organizations who were looking to recruit volunteers as well as interns. More than 75 students attended the involvement fair, and more than 10 stands were set up for the students to receive information about different activities that they can sign up for.
Annual Drama Club Play
The QLU Drama Club puts together a play each year, which is presented to the Panamanian audience, at a local theatre. Quality Leadership University, other sponsors, and ticket payers help pay for this activity to take place. The play is presented for a period of three days in different functions, and has a total estimated attendance of 600 viewers annually.
Participation of Debate Team in Jovenes Unidor Por El Dialago
From October 28-30 of 2011, debate team members participated in Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua’s Annual United Nations Forum. This three day forum tackled the issues of our international and national communities today. Alejandro Escobar was awarded best delegate in the Human Rights Committee representing Amnesty International. Astrid Castillo, representing Amnesty International and Stephanie Lievano, representing the United Kingdom received honorable mentions for their exceptional participation.
Panama International Forum
Each year, the university sponsors Panama International Forum (PIF), the largest student model debate conference in Panama. The activity is a three day long activity completely organized by QLU students. Around 5 universities and 10 high schools attend each year, for a total of more than 200 delegates who participate in different UN and non-UN committees, at both a national and international level, representing the interests of a country, world leader, or legislator. PIF was founded in 2005 by Quality Leadership University students and has been running successfully ever since.
Harvard Model United Nations
From March 1-7, 2012, Debate team members traveled to Boston for a weeklong conference representing Panama as the first delegation in history. Among over 2,000 participants our delegation experienced the 3 day debate, made new friends, and encountered diversity left and right.
FANLYC Relay for Life
The biggest social responsibility event sponsored by QLU each year is the Relay for Life which benefits FANLYC, a foundation that helps children from low-income families who are struggling with cancer or leukemia. The activity is a 24 hour relay race, in which around 75 companies and institutions participate, and ask for the support of their employees, students, and friends of the company. Per each lap that a QLU friend takes around the assigned area, the university donated a certain amount of money to a child to is fighting cancer or leukemia. QLU has been participating for two years, and in 2011 came in #6 position of 76 participating companies and institutions in laps given and money donated.
Last March 31, 2012, the first interuniversity Swimming championship was celebrated, where different private and public Panamanian universities had the opportunity to compete. Quality Leadership University, participated and obtained third place in the competition. The Universities that also participated were USMA, FSU, UMIP, University of Panama, UTP, Universidad Latina, UDELAS, Universidad Interamericana, and ULACIT.
Woment’s Flag Football
The QLU team participate in Women’s Flag Football interuniversity competition, LIFF, and obtain some of the highest places. They obtained third place in 2011 and first place in 2012.
Soccer y Futsal
Students participate in interuniversity soccer and futsal matches. They have come in the top three out of all of the universities in previous years.
Students participate in interuniversity competitions in basketball.

Quality Leadership University recognized students for high academic achievement. Among special guests were Dr. Nefertiti Burton, Associate Dean of International Programs, Diversity and Outreach of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Louisville.
