Semester Abroad Programs

How does the program work
Students from foreign universities may come to Panama for an entire semester and have  the experience of living and studying abroad while earning academic credit  nd the experience of a lifetime.

What courses can I take?
Students who do a semester abroad take some of the courses we offer to our local students. Our courses are offered in English by qualified professors approved by the main campus American universities we represent. We offer a large selection of General Education courses and some courses in Business Management.

General Education Curriculum
Our General Education courses are part of the undergraduate academic program we have in collaboration with the University of Louisville, Kentucky. U of L is one of the oldest metropolitan state universities in the USA. During the Summer Semester terms, professors from U of L come to Panama to teach the same courses they teach in Louisville, Kentucky. Students will take the courses with groups ranging from 20 to 40 Latin American students, not just Panamanian. Panamanians are friendly and we are sure students will make lots of really good friends.

Business Courses
We offer business and management courses through our academic collaboration agreement with Towson University (TU). TU is the second largest state university in Maryland, located just 15 minutes from Baltimore and 45 minutes from Washington, DC. To be admitted into each one of the courses, we need to make sure students meet the admission requirements

Schedules
Classes are usually held in the morning only. In the Spring and Fall Semesters classes are offered from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. In this scheduling system you can take up to four courses a semester

Academic Credits and transcripts
Credit earned is as good as the credit earned in your home institution.

Academic transcripts will be granted by either: University of Louisville, Towson University or Quality Leadership University, depending on the courses students take. Transcripts are official and written in English. You will be admitted and registered as a “Visitor.” The academic credit earned is as good as the credit earned in your home institution.

Internship Option
Students also have the option to do Internships, Co-ops and Service Learning Projects. Students just tell us what their needs are and we will make sure to them in finding the appropriate opportunity for them to earn valuable international experience. We will assign them a faculty advisor to coordinate their internship, and at the company or international organization they will have a supervisor who will be in charge of reporting on their performance. The objective is to assign them to meaningful and enriching job opportunities that will allow them to put in practice what they have learned at the university. Some positions will pay a small stipend; some others do not pay a salary or stipend.
